The World is Watching

I would like to share the family's appreciation for all the nice notes, calls, and emails we've received over the past week. We've had email from Tokyo, Germany, and Canada. Notes have been sent from all around the state and from across these United States. We've heard from North Carolina, Virginia, and Boston. So many of you are praying and thinking of the family and it means so much.

I just heard from the hospital. Nothing much has changed since yesterday. The doctors continue to make adjustments to Alex's pressure and vent settings, trying to make the most of the technology. Chest X-rays and blood cultures are the course of the day.

Please pray for Alex's mom and dad, Kim & Mike. They can use all your love and prayers.

Curt-
I am praying for Alex, his family, and your family as you struggle through this time. My sister was very ill a few years ago and was at Riley for several weeks on two seperate occasions. It can all be a very difficult time. Please know that I am praying for you all. God is good, all the time. All the time, God is good. If you get this, I would love to email with you and catch up. You were my very first pastor, you know? -

To the family of Alex,

There are many people at Grace Church who are praying for Alex. We are praying for a complete recovery, and that in the time it takes to get there, that Alex will feel the presence of Jesus. We are also praying for each of you- from immediate family to extended family to close friends. Each of you is struggling with sleepless nights, anxious days, and all the unknowns of tomorrow. We pray that you will know God as your refuge and your strength and that you will know His presence as you walk through this troubled time. He loves you, and so desires to comfort you, so hang tight to Him.
Love and prayers, Cyndy Parkman

Curt -
As I said before you all are in our prayers. May you all know and feel the presence of God more than you have any other time in your life.

To Alex's Family,
I am praying for a complete recovery for Alex, and for his family, I pray that God would give them His supernatural peace, strength & hope. I believe if I were in your place I would be having all kinds of feelings...disbelief, anger, sadness and fear. But I know our God of love understands all of your feelings. He is a God of immeasurable love and immeasurable power too. Nothing is too difficult for Him. Hold onto this. He loves Alex and each of you so much.

To Alex and the Shaffer family -

My thoughts and prayers continue to go out to you. Be strong and faithful as Alex's body begins to heal. My fiance, Donna, and I have reached out to our family, friends and colleagues and asked them to keep you all in their prayers. Beyond a hospital room there is an ever increasing circle of love and faith devoted just for you.

Dear Alex and family--

I have been following the updates from Curt Austin's blog. I, too, am praying daily for God's healing hand to touch you. I pray that with each day you get stronger and that your body begins the healing process. God does truly work wonders and miracles.

I remember the many cards, letters, and prayers that were sent my way nine years ago when I, too, was in a coma, awaiting a liver transplant at IU Med Center. Those cards, letters, prayers, etc, were truly a blessing; and I'm sure they are and will be a blessing for you.

God uses doctors, nurses, and other medical professionals to work His wonders and miracles of modern medicine.

I have asked the members of my church, Indianapolis Broadway United Methodist Church, to join the chorus of prayer being lifted up to Jesus on your behalf. Keep fighting the good fight to get stronger minute by minute, hour by hour, day by day...

PS--Your MCHS teachers are remembering you daily in our thoughts and prayers.
